Speaking, Storytelling & Acting (S&C)

All good speeches must appeal to not only the audience's logical mind but to their emotions as well. Logic will explain the "how" details; but a good speech must appeal to their emotions - a speaker must get the audience involved. Stories allow the speaker to connect with the audience, also stories by themselves are entertaining. In this session, the elements of good storytelling are explored. With a good story to tell, a speaker will always have a good audience.

Jonita Shoaff, ATM-S (D18)
The Unfinished Symphony (S&C)

Picture this. The speaker delivers a speech that is great. It is as great in speaking as Beethoven's 5th is in music. Then the evaluator approached the podium. The evaluation is boring, poorly crafted and poorly delivered. It's like finishing Beethoven's 5th with a rendition of Chopsticks! The evaluation is, I believe, the most useful tool in Toastmasters. It benefits the speaker, the evaluator and the audience. So, how do we do it right? How do we finish the symphony correctly?
